Just heard on the news tonite that our Utah County Black Bears are out taste testing our Boy Scouts again,
Hobble Creek camp ground in Spanish fork canyon there was a boy scout troop camping and a sow wondered around camp mouthing a few tents and bit/mouthed a scout about 3am on the arm thru the tent. didn't break the skin just scratched him, the tent had 4 real nice indentations in it...
They notified UDWR and the next evening while they were BBQing ribs she came back and the DWR officer shot her ( I guess if you are the Game Warden you can use Boy Scout and BBQ ribs for bait) and gave the troop a lecture on clean camping in Bear area's.
There was a Bear country sign posted at the camp site... and it was chewed on also.
No mentioned of any cubs.. and she was a decent size bear.
FYI if you are out camping in Utah county.
