Idaho HB587 2024 will end the OTC free for all by forcing all Non-Residents to draw for tags in Idaho beginning Jan 1st 2025. So there would still be a Dec 1st 2024 tag rush.

I like the proposal. I need some education as to whether this is a change that requires action by the Legislature (which I understand some do), or them manipulating IDFG.

I will always oppose the Legislature acting unilaterally on wildlife management changes, even if they are good changes. I see this bill as procedural rather than resource management. Therefore -IMHO - not in violation of the NAM tenets of scientific management.

If continued to be a random draw, like the current system is for the limited side of things I would be all for it. As of right now I don’t apply for the general stuff because of how much of a rat race it is. Plus hunting parties could actually get together and apply together, and if drawn together hunt together.
