I'm glad you said that danr55 because those words "...state sponsored religion" are a whole lot different than "separation of church and state." How many folk here do you think would be surprised that the US constitution makes no such guarantee of the latter; however, the constitution of the former Soviet Socialist Republic did! You are correct in the finding as well. "Theoretically" the precedent found regarding the use of the phrase on our money should extend to the pledge as well, no guarantees though!
