Suppressor Opinions

I am looking to get a suppressor purchased before inventory goes haywire in a couple of months. I am going to try and do it from overseas, which is probably going to be a nightmare, but I am not going to be able to use it until about May, so I have the time...

I am looking to use it on my .308s, a 7mm-08, .260, and a 6.5CM, so no magnums. These are all fairly svelte rifles, so trying to keep the weight/length down. Right now I am looking at a Scythe-TI, but now that so many of you are probably shooting suppressed, I am hoping you can short-circuit my research (don't have a ton of extra time on my hands these days).

Thoughts?

Don’t get a scythe, too many failures. Mine has been fine but I wouldn’t buy another.

dead air nomad ti XC (have and like) or unknown suppressors Reaper (new, haven’t used, but seems attractive, slightly shorter than a nomad Xc)

Others in the same size/weight/performance realm are AB raptor 8, Liberty precision Mach s, OCL hydrogen S. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of those 5.

I have 2 Scythe ti and a DA nomad Lti xc. The Lti is super quiet but kinda long for hunting. I have well over 1000 rounds on one of the scythes including 150 or so with a 300wsm with 0 issues. The other one is on my shorty tikka 708 that my wife keeps stealing because it is such a joy to shoot. The Scythe or the DA TI xc would fit your needs.

I run my namad Lti with a scythe hub because it cuts an ounce and 3/4 inch vs the xeno it comes with.

I own a Thunder Beast Ultra 7. I have zero complaints about it. I’ve used on a bunch of different rifles from 300 PRC to 223 Rem.

I also have a Rugged Obsidian 9mm on a 350 legend. It was quite a bit less and can’t do the whole range of calibers. A 300 PRC would destroy it. But it performs just fine on the 350.

I have been ogling a Thunder Beast ultra 5. I think it would be a good hunting suppressor. A great compromise between length, weight, and performance.

Justified or not I’ve heard a lot of negative thrown out on the ultra 5 for how loud it is. Never shot one myself. My first can was an ultra 7 and I’m happy with it. The Magnus K or OCL hydrogen k are other 5” ti cans that tested better in tbacs own silencer summit.

Stay away from silencer central. My backcountry is much louder than I was prepared for. Much better cans for the price.

I'm eyeing the Unknown Reaper but there are complaints about the end cap working loose. Need to talk to local shop about potential transfer fees.

Scythe seems to have some failures but a buddy's sounds nice.

I dont know a damn thing about them but given how terrible I am with putting in ear protection I feel like I should consider one.

I have a Banish Backcountry. Being my first one I don't have much to compare it to. It is louder than I expected. I'm very interested in one of Unknown Suppressors models for my next one

Nomad ti xc or the LTi, over the scythe because of the failures. If you want a very long read go to RokSlide and find the scythe ti failure thread.

I also love my diligent defense enticer LTi

My other favorite is AB raptor or the steel version warthog now called the A-10.

The LTi for both diligent defense and dead air are both 1.5-2” longer.

The Dead Air Nomad TI XC was the other one I have been looking at. I will check out the others too.

Big fan of my standard Nomad. I don’t see the need to go Ti unless you are planning on humping the rig 10 miles deep into the mountains. For most of my shooting situations, the added weight is a benefit.

Also enjoy my SilencerCo Omega 36M but the little Nomad has stolen my heart. Hope to have range reviews for a SilencerCo Velos LBP 556 on a CZ Bren and an Omega9K on an SBR’d CZ Scorpion before long.

I have heard that too. But it takes the same CB mount that my ultra 7 takes. I could swap between the two. Unfortunately, without buying one it is very hard to find one that you can test on your rifle.

I wanted a suppressor with the best suppression; I didn't care about length.
I use the DD enticer Lti, and it was cheaper than the others for a bonus.

Thanks for all the replies. The majority of my experience with suppressors is from work, but the ones we use generally aren’t the type to screw onto a hunting rifle.

Given short/light/decent suppression are my primary objectives, the DA Nomad TI XC seems like it is the ticket. Now I just need to find out if I can initiate the purchase from overseas and figure out how I will get the finger prints done….

I have a banish 30 and a pair of omega 300s. I keep the banish in the 7” configuration and it does well on everything I’ve put it on. Ive shot the omegas on one trip to the range so far and really like them. I run them with the brake on my wife’s 243win and 308win does very well. The recoil on the 243 is almost nonexistent. I was able to get the omegas for $1500 out the door.

I just put a DA Nomad ti xc on my 7prc and i could not believe how quiet it was. no complaints from me with it.

I bought a couple cans from Capitol armory and used their diy finger print package. They have my prints saved now so additional orders are easy. I’d see if they can ship you the print package overseas.
