Stopping for breakfast after being shot?

Somewhere in the back of my brain I remember some Montana politician stopping for breakfast on the way to the hospital after being shot quail or partridge hunting with his family. I want to say his nephew or someone like that was the trigger puller.

Either my Google skills are lacking or my memory is because I can’t find it anywhere on the inter webs.

Anyone remember that or have better luck finding it than I seem to have?
