I sent my Steiner 10x26 safaris in for repairs. I use these for turkey hunting and bike riding because they are small. They took a fall off a lawn chair and the short distance disloged the prism. I sent them in hoping for a free repair but they wanted 45$ plus 10$ shipping to replace them. So i sent the money. Yesterday i open the box and look at the replacement pair and the alignment of the 2 barrels is so far off that there is two cars in the guys driveway 2 houses down... he only owns one. What a fricking joke! these ass clowns don't even look at the crap they send out? Man am i pissed.:BLEEP:
was never a big fan of Steiner but bought these on a closeout and am sorry i didnt stick with nikon because those guys know how to take care of thier customers.

I had a pair of 10 x 50 Senator Series bino's, After trading in my old pair of 10 x 50 military's and $550 more I got them. I used them for around 5 years when the armor coating started disintagrating. I called up the same company as you, they said send them in and the'll fix em....... Anyway they called said that they couldn't fix their top of the line Steiner's and that for extra couple hundred dallars they would send me the top bino they have now....... One that was there that they refurbished..... Long story short they where just the militarys, the lenses where so out of wack that it made me cross eyed..
Sent them back, they appolagized didn't know how that could have happened.
They then sent me a pair of refurbished 9 x 40 hunters, that are OK, but not the quality of the Senator, what are they trying to pull?

I have some steiners, and I really like the binos, but after hearing your storys I'm not sure I'd want to even send mine in for repairs.

Danr, I do !
Spend it now or spend it later.
I really like the physcial design and egronomics of Steiner binos, but every time I got close to buying a pair, I looked through them and compared them to others in the same price class. There is lots of good optics for the money out there, remember IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GLASS !

I would definitly never buy Steiner as a main binocular. But like i said, these were just a Biking, car, and bird hunting bino. My main Binos are the Leica Geovids 10x40 , Doctor optic 15x60, and a beater pair of nikon monarchs 10x40.

Schmalts,
My dad has a pair of Nikon ATB's that got out of foucus somehow. He didn't remember droping them or throwing them or anything. So he sent them in.

He was told that they were out of alignment and it would cost him $60 to get them fixed and that included shipping. They did come back fixed however... but cost him.

I have a pair of Leupold binos, an older pair, and I lost one of the eye cups. I sent them an emial, and the next day I have an email that says they dropped them in the mail, and to let them know if they aren't the right ones. Not a return email to say this or that, just shipped em and they arived a couple days later and were the right fit.

I've also sent in a Leupold scope that was turning purple... cost me nothing but the shipping to them and they swapped out the front tube and gave me new caps, it looked dang near new when I got it back...

IMO they have by far the best service in the country. My FIL used to be a rep for Lieca, and he'll tell ya that their customer service isn't even close to Leupolds... However, he owns three pair of Lieca bino's 2 scopes and only 2 leupold products.

Well... here is my update. I talked the manager into a free upgrade for my troubles. I was sent a pair of 8.5X28 Wildlife as a replacement pair as i requested. Great glass, clear, nice.... Took them out yesterday on a hike and got rained on. Both tubes completely fogged up and one is so bad it has water droplets inside. So, my advice... Stay far away from Steiner compact binos. If the quality control is so bad that not one, but both tubes are not sealed (advertised WATERPFOOF) it makes a guy wonder.
