The Budweiser Clydesdales are in town for a week. I was able to land two overnight shifts, keeping them in line. Well, more like watching them as they slept. Damn, are they big, all at least 6' tall at the shoulders, and two were almost 2800 pounds. There are 10 of them; it takes 8 to pull the wagon and two spares. The delmatioin was there too, but it never stopped long enough to get a pic. They will be delivering beer by the wagonful to some of the bars here and in some of the towns around here.

They eat in a normal day, 60 pounds of grass hay, 25 pounds of grain, and 30 gallons of water.
They are about 6' tall at the shoulders and run from 1800 to 2800 hundred pounds.
The top green rail on the pen is 6' high.
And they snore when they sleep...1756338860735.gif1756338860743.gif1756338860757.gif

Cool experience!

I was a giant horse nut as a kid and I still remember my grandma taking me to see the Budweiser Clydesdales when I was little. I remember getting to pet one, and being awestruck by how gigantic they were. Still some of my favorite Super Bowl commercials. Something so impressive about a matched draft team of gentle giants.

Any of you guys ever watched the horse pulls? Like a tractor pull but with draft horses. Pretty neat to watch.
Yes. My grandfather and I used to go to the horse and mule pull at the state fair every year. He used mules to plow as a kid. I really enjoy watching them.

My great uncle trained a fleet of Clydesdales for Budweiser back in like the 60s or 70s.
There’s a bunch of pictures somewhere in the family.
