Savage Revel .22 classic - opinions?

My brother in law has a 39a that his father bought him in the 1970's. It hangs over the doorway and he has stories about adventures with that gun that go on and on. I get it.

Bottom line is everyone should be blessed enough to own at least one quality .22 rifle and use it enough that it has great stories to tell.

Saw one in a local gun store yesterday. I didn't buy it but it seemed nice and felt good in my hands. If I was in the market for a .22 lever gun I'd buy one.

What do you have for a big game rifle and shotgun.

Couple of Savages and a Howa Superlite. Only the .300 WSM weighs more than 7 lbs. scoped and it's only 7 1/4 lbs. I do a lot of walking/hiking when I hunt. The difference between carrying a 7 lb. rifle and a 8 or 9 lb. rifle doesn't sound like much until you've been carrying it all day at elevation. Only reason I use a sling is to hold my rifle for a moment when I need both hands to do something. Then I carry it again. I forget what sports writer said this, but he said a hunting rifle should always be in your hands and I guess I agree with that.
