Good for You, I wish you the Best.
Can't wait to hear all about your hunt.
I pray for a safe and successful hunt, success can be measured in different ways. 🙏👍

Based on your inputs, and a buddy of mine, after deer season, I am going to play with different bullet weights and loads in my 280 AI. If I can get the recoil down where it is comfortable for deer hunting and practice, then upload for a possible elk hunt (still within my area of comfort), I may just be keeping it and selling off the majority of my other rifles.

Question for all of you wise folks - Should I shoot my never before shot Tikka Ace Game 6.5 PRC just to see what the recoil is like, or based on my thought of not keeping it, sell it as like new. Do you think it being shot a few times will reduce the value by a lot?

Personal opinion. But they best all around caliber you own, ballistically, mild recoiling and that fits every application you’re looking to do is the 6.5prc.

To throw a wrench in everything, I used a 300WSM this year. Loaded down to 2850fps with a 175gn bullet. Suppressed it is a joy to shoot. I have a 260ai and a 280ai, the 300WSM worked really well on both an elk and antelope. If I was a one and done caliber guy. I would have a hard time not being a 300WSM guy.

The poll is based off the calibers he currently owns… 6.5creed, 6.5prc, 7mm-08, 308, and 280ai

Here's a thought.

You seem to have shot many of what you have.

Most seem capable of what you need.

The can seems to help all of them in making recoil manageable.

List them all for sale.

The last one standing is the one you keep.

A 150 grain barnes is a nice light kicker in the 300wsm too. Not as much long range potential though if that’s what you need.

None of the above! 300 Winchester with quality muzzlebrake the kicks about like a 243! My 300 Win with muzzle brake kicks way less than my 300 WSM without a brake
