It seems that every year there is a litany of threads started about "What is the Best's Whatever, for whatever.
I first wrote this back when the Moose-Man was just starting out and selling what was ever left over from the garage, his kids latest greatest gotta have's , or basically Anything to keep this forum alive.

Paws was posting ornery everything, and TNCNB allowed me to backpack his 5 yr son thru a swamp in a Fla Hog hound hunt. ("Hollywood", 5yr old shot a boar point blank at 3 ft, w/a 44 Mag, cried some, and then poses as a proud Warrior, along with his Dad) He must be driving and have a cutie by now.........
Any way, here it goes again.
FOR ANYONE ASKING A GENERAL BEST CARTRIDGE:
The '06 is NOT the almighty. The Mag (insert whatever caliber in this space " ") is also not your answer.
Nor is an Ought '8, in any derivative.
THINK:
.25-.28 section density with a well constructed bullet.
.25-.338 caliber bullet. Yeah, that's a spread, but guess whut.......they ALL work !
Deer/ Lope/Sheep/ Goat : 1000 FPS on target
Anything else,
1500 fps.
If it's smart enough to grab a 20# salmon out of a stream, in mid air, with their teeth and I can't catch one PERIOD.,you're on your own.... I'm outta here.
