When i was a kid 9-10 i used to trap muskrats out of the canals, around my house in phx. used to get 50-60 of them a year then skin them and put them on a U- shaped wire hanger, then sell them for about $1.75-$2.25 per pelt, since they [srp] destroyed most of the habitat, you don`t see them in the canals very often,i was wondering about you guys in other states, do you have many muskrats? do kids trap? is there any market for them?

I trapped em a lot, in the 80s, when fur prices had peaked. That was in NB, so it was northern fur - was getting 5-12 bucks apiece (Cdn) in those days. A friend of my Dad's used to call me muskrat, after I started trapping in high school. Thus, the nick...

Fur prices are going up. They've recovered about 50% after their lowest prices were hit a few years ago. People are starting to trap again. I don't know any trappers around here, but there are a few.
