Mt 313-45

I sent in the application thinking "What the heck, only $4".

They sent me a MT 313-45 "unlimited". Now I'm thinking I wasted $4. I generally don't put in for draw tags anymore(except antelope) and don't do "points" either. Not looking for chasing elk with crowds of people.

Anyone know anything about these tags?

Guess I'll call up FWP. The tag was available by mail only if you didn't put in for any draw areas. It's the area NE of YNP. "Unlimited" has me wondering. What's the elk population like here now? I see elk around there most of the time. As most elk hunters put in for the draw, how many folks will be in the area?

There will be no shortage of people, especially if you hunt during rifle season. That being said, there are still plenty of elk to be had. The Bears keep a lot of people out of the backcountry (with good reason). It's rugged country with heavy griz populations. It's kind of like everywhere else, the crowds dwindle after opening weekend.
