My buddy and I will be camping at about 7,000 feet and was curious to know if we can use the standard non-vacuum sealed mountain house or do we need to use the vacuum sealed propack?

It has no effect, the vamumed packs are to save space.

I like to get the 'cans' of food and make them up in ziploc bags (get heavy freezer bags). They are a little messier to eat out of, but they save a ton of space, and the bag will burn completly. Its also a little cheaper to buy in bulk.

Good Idea, I have quite a 10# cans at home for an emergency.
