For some reason I'm a little stumped on the draw odds of this. Is there anywhere you can see the # of applicants from the past. I see for non-resident they only allow 4600 tags, which doesn't seem like a lot for a shoe in of drawing. I don't really want to fork up the additional money for the deer and elk combo just to assure I draw. I found on gohunt results from last year and if I'm reading their article correctly it looks like there never were any left over general deer tags but there were leftover deer and elk combos. I guess if all else fails we can fall back on a WY deer/antelope hunt with their extended deadline.

Thanks in advance guys!

You can contact MT FWP in Helena and ask for Neal. He knows all. 406-444-4715

Last year there were leftover general deer tags. When they went on sale though, they sold out the first day.

yes, best thing to do if you want to deer hunt in MT this year as a NR would be to apply for the deer combo by march 15. better to be safe than sorry.
