Hey all, I acquired a buffalo tag. Yes I said buffalo, fight me! I'm wondering if anybody has some info on the current status of the herds. Have they moved out of the park yet? Is it reasonable to hunt without a snow mobile? I haven't decided if I want to hunt the north side or west side. My budget is very tight, I'll be processing the animal myself. Borrowing coolers from friends, will be using bed sheets for game bags, etc. Any and all tips will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not much for help on the MT buffalo but when we went thru West Yellowstone 2 weeks ago for my WY buffalo hunt. There were signs in the hiway that said there had been 10 car /buff collisions already. So I'm guessing some have moved out of the park. I would take a sled as there was a lot of snow at west Yellowstone. Way more snow there than at Jackson Hole where I hunted.

It sounds like you need to read the regulations. I’m pretty sure your tag is only good for one area.

Methinks Crazy Warrior has a different tag than youthinks.
