So about 15 yrs ago I started adding supplemental insurance plans. They are relatively cheap. I have good health insurance. I might be uneducated in coverage but always thought transport could be a gap. Plus secondary insurance for a small amount of money can't hurt. I often fish the copper river valley from Glennallen to Valdez. The lone time we had a medical need we went to Glen Allen. My mom who lived up there for years sent me this. One of her friends had to get medeflighted from Glennallen to Anchorage. A 3-4 hour drive by car.
$67k. I can't recommend enough suppliment insurance if in remote territory

I don't have med a vac insurance, but I have Body shipping insurance. It's the same amount, and there is no upside because you're dead... 82 bucks a month.

Never heard of that one. Lol. I will say my uncle was on a hunt. One of his long time buddies dropped over dead on day 2. They finished the hunt cause that is what he would have wanted. Then picked the body up from the coroner and drove him back home in a box in the back of the truck. Pretty hard core. Not sure ai would have been able to do that.

I can respect that "get er done" attitude. I have Search and Rescue insurance through Garmin that covers $100,000 of SAR coverage that costs $39.95 per year. Still hope that I never need to push that SOS button.

A little late here, as usual. I had a mishap several years ago that could have been a financial disaster had we not had good insurance. I got clipped by a big black and tan hound, dislocated my right knee. We live in a tiny town with a volunteer ambulance crew and there was no paramedic on duty. They transported me 15 miles to meet a second ambulance that had a paramedic. A shot of morphine had no effect whatsoever and a second dose maxed me out still without any relief. Apparently I’m part of a tiny fraction of the population that morphine has no effect on. The EMT was afraid I was going to have a heart attack from the pain so called in the helicopter. The air ambulance ride alone was over $41K our out of pocket was $0.00 because we had Air Med Care insurance. I highly recommend it!
