July 2019 ammo restrictions

Slightly off topic, but at what point are taxes, fees, licenses considered an infringement of 2nd amendment rights? Obviously, any extra fees/regulations could be argued to impede a person's right to bear arms, I'm not trying to make that libertarian argument. But has there been any scholarly work on what would be considered unconstitutional?

The reason I ask is that I've seen it argued on some mainstream outlets that taxation is a good way to circumvent the constitution on gun control. So what sort of taxes would be considered constitutional? $100? $1000? Up to the cost of the gun/ammunition purchase? One million billion dollars? Is there a precedent here?
