The wife and I went down to the river and my cousin's getaway spot to trim out shooting lanes, check out the blinds, scout for sign and maybe fish a little. We cleaned out the wasp nests from the permanent blinds and trimmed a truckload of brush, then got started on our feast. My cousin and his wife, our 85 year uncle and aunt, the bride and I dug in to destroy a bushel of Blue Point oysters from Topsail Island, a plate of boiled shrimp, lots of crab cakes, corn on the cob, coleslaw and hushpuppies. Much too much food, but we figured that we owed it to ourselves, and no one felt any guilt afterward.

Never did get to fish, but no matter. The food, fellowship with family, scouting and just hanging out was plenty. I know some of you guys are out there cooking up backstrap and possibly getting snowed on, but we have ways to have fun down here too.

Threw in a couple of shots of the feast and a couple of my favorite river.
