First year diy elk hunt Colorado

Lifetime whitetail hunter, moved west, looking for a big challenge.

There are two of us, we’ve narrowed down our otc units to 4,32,3,21,22. For second rifle season. We are both seasoned bow hunters but decided not to get our feet wet with elk during bow season.

Conditioned to hike many miles through rough terrain, tactics and equipment are not an issue. Our only issue is tribal knowledge, if any can be gained by this forum it’ll be worth it.


If there is anyone out there with advice for where to go it would be appreciated greatly.
 
Google the Colorado Hunting Atlas. It has filters that show you where to find elk such as summer and winter concentration areas and migration routes. Those filters are also in OnX but you have to pay for that.
