Hello all, I have recently gotten a savage 110 in 400 legend and was looking at good ammunition to try through it as a 200 yard and in deer hunting rifle. So far I’ve only tried the 215gr Winchester power points and planned on trying the federal power shoks but wanted to hear if anyone has used either or any of the other ammo available on the market for hunting and how they performed on game.

I started with the winchester xp’s but I got slightly better groups out of the Barnes harvest load. Can’t comment on game performance, this will be my first season with it.

I cannot comment on their 400 Legend. However I killed Mule Deer and Whitetails with Federal Power Shock from my 7x57 Mauser and my 270 before I started reloading. My wife also killed a couple deer in 243 using that line.

Seems to be a good bullet for a basic cup and core in a factory loading.

I usually like power shoks in most cartridges I have but I’m curious if I’ll get the same performance at a much slower velocity especially if I push the .400 to 200 yards or more.

Only factory ammunition i shoot is hornady. Ftx or interlocks depending on bottleneck or straight wall. Cant go wrong with either.
