I haven't applied for any since 2009 and am trying determine how long I have to use the points I had accrued up to that time. I was thinking it was 10 years.
Does anyone know what the expiration time is for Colo pref. points.

You are correct. From the regs...
POINTS ACCUMULATE until you draw a first-choice license. If you fail to apply for or have not purchased a license during a 10-year period, all accumulated points for that species are purged from your record and become void.
