Deadwood Mountain Outfitters, New Mexico

Hello, I am looking into a New Mexico elk hunt in the future. Wondering if anyone has information (good or bad) on Deadwood Mountain Outfitters out of New Mexico. The outfit offers elk hunts in 51/52. Thanks for any information!

Hey man, did you ever get any info on these folks? Ive got a unit 51 tag rifle, just trying to weigh my options of DIY or semi-guided as Ive never been to the unit. Hope your hunt goes well.

I don’t know your hunting background or elk experience, but for unit 51 I personally would NOT use a guide.

There are tons of threads on this site alone, plus others that have info on unit 51.

We also have some new (as of New Mexico draw results) members that showed up and have the same tag.

Reach out to them and pool your resources.

Roger, Ive read pretty much all the threads on this unit, but as a non-res was considering a semi-guided just to try and increase my chances as much as possible. Thanks for the reply.

Unless there is a miraculous turn with La Nina or El Nino or whatever, it will be a tough hunt. The elk manage to get real scarce in much of the unit when it gets dry, and I have never hunted it as dry as it is right now.
