Sometimes food bites back.
At least five readers of Southern Living who tried the icebox dinner roll recipe in the current issue were injured by bubbling fat.
The publication hastily printed a correction on its Web site, sent e-mails to readers and recalled copies of the magazine from the newsstand.
For readers of The Denver Post, the incident called to mind the exploding chicken episode of 1982.
Apparently a recipe for Apricot Brandy Chicken published in the newspaper's Sunday magazine blew the doors off at least two ovens in the Denver area.
