I would just like to add: I doubt there is a PH in Arica worth his/her salt that would ALLOW anybody to use a 338 on a cape buffalo. A moose is a wimp compared to a cape buffalo.

How thick is the hide on a moose? 1/4" maybe

The hide on a cape buffalo can reach 3/4" thick. Somebody said something to the effect: Do buffalo have steel sides? They may as well have as I doubt the 338 has enough horsepower to go clean thru a cape buffalo (broadside) with any bullet (unless it was gut shot, maybe).
