Look, short as possible is better in every way except loudness. More accurate barrel. Easier to handle in brush. More manageable with suppressor. Use your imagination to understand all the benefits.
So, determine how far you want to shoot. Choose a cartridge that gets you there at the shortest legal length (or go SBR if it's worth it to you). And CHOP THAT THING!
No compelling reason that tips the scale to go longer that I can think of.
