Bloodhounds

To start, I have only trained Labs for waterfowl hunting, we had Spaniols for pheasants when I was young. Really enjoying training and watching dogs work. I am really interested in training a tracking dog for mostly deer but plan to train for any type of recovery. Ive been watching training videos and techniques. Trying to learn the different behaviors of tracking dogs and what to expect. I would appreciate any advice, knowledge, and what not to do. Looking to get a pup late spring early summer

Why a bloodhound? It seems like most blood trackers use wiredhair dachshunds from hunting line.

I am leaning toward the Bloodhound mainly because I like their look, build and personality.

I don’t have anything to add as far as advice but can offer some encouragement. Called in a dog last year and she saved my bacon (read venison) - cut the recovery time down substantially and I likely would have lost everything but the antlers without her. Good luck - its a valued service if you need it!
