Bears o'plenty

Step daughter has a tag this year and the wife should draw a tag next year. So I'm back to baiting bear again. Been a few years since i baited last but there appears to be a very healthy population around. A couple big ol boys and a bunch of them up to 200 hundred pounds with a couple between 2 and 300 pounds.

Nothing big on my bait here!. 2 years ago I shot a 20” there and that must have been the only big bear in the country as I haven’t had a big one back yet. The berries are almost done here and they are hammering the bait 50 gallons in 2-3 days. Good luck when does season open for you guys?

Old bread and pastry and deep fry grease. Haven’t even used any beaver carcasses yet as it’s been pretty warm out

Ours opened today. I have to be on the road by 6 am tomorrow or I would have hunted tonight. Been practicing with my bow all summer and going to try for my 1st ever archery kill

There's been 6 or 7, 500 pound plus bears killed within a 3.5 mile radis of my house.

I'm not really the biggest fan of it, but the wife absolutely loves it. Not really sure how to describe the flavor as i very seldom will eat it

Some of the best meat in the forest. A lot has to do with how it's handled "after the shot". Cool it down asap. 1

Bears are so hard to judge for me. Have had numerous on all my cameras this year, think a couple are good size, but really have nothing to compare them to for size.

We have a bumper crop of acorns this year and most of the neighbors have corn planted. So i hope they continue to come to my baits.

This bear was killed on one of my baits yesterday, 195 pound dressed out boar.
My step-daughter starts hunting this weekend hopefully she can get one as well.

I don't think any other big game meat varies as much as bear. The flavor is very dependent on their diet. Mountain bear that's been eating acorns, wild grape and berries tastes a lot different than coastal bear that's been fattening up on salmon.
