I have a few questions for someone that hunts the big and little belts regarding bear density, access to water in certain areas. I have camped and hunted in both but looking to take it a little further now that I know equipment works.

The Smith River corridor in The Little Belts have very good numbers of black bear without the high densities of grizzly there is in other ranges in Montana. Access is excellent in that range, and occasionally they even shut down the camp grounds and floating because of bears raiding camps. Not gonna give away any spots, but I would focus on the latter parts of the season.

Thanks for reply, I didn't get to far west in the little belts last time I was there hunting partner had different plan, I've been going solo so I have more flexibility which direction I head as long as there is water I should be good.
