Bear Spray

Is there any brand of bear spray that stands out above others? I am going to griz country a little earlier than I planned and just want to cover my bases, because I understand the advantage of the spray over hoping to use a firearm quickly enough.

I'm not a huge believer in bear spray but i do have a can of Counter Assault. Its supposed to be pretty reliable.

Some of the cheaper stuff isn't as strong if you look at the ingredients. The better stuff is 2%.

I have Counter Assault...just be sure the one you buy is regulated and approved by the EPA.

Counter Assault sets the standard, IMO. Not that I've tested it on bears. Just myself...

I would not dare do anything that the EPA did not approve! Yeah right! That would put it first on my list!! If all else fails, at least I will be well-seasoned!

Any downsides to U-Dap?

If you are price shopping, be aware they come in different sizes and also have an expiration date so you could wind up with a little can of stuff that is about to expire.

Great point. I will buy it in Cody, Wyoming. I have some local friends and family, so I will make sure they guide me to the right spot to get good stuff.

I carry Frontiersman and think Udap, Counter Assault round out the top three in no particular order.
