Arizona otc deer?

I drew an AZ 6a bull elk archery tag. The season opens Sept. 9. I thought of buying an otc deer tag and going a few days early to mule deer hunt. According to flaunt the success rates are very low. Anyone know why? What do you think?

My buddy drew that tag in 2011 and we were there the entire season and didn't see more than 5 or 6 deer and all were does, but we were into elk 13 of the 14 days. We also had rain the first 9 days and had a big lake out in front of our camp. He drew the tag again this year and we'll be there a couple days before the opener through the entire season, if necessary.
