Scoured a local shop today and found 8lbs of 4000-MR in stock. I've never used it and I know it's not the most popular powder in the world, so wondering if anybody on here uses it and if they have had luck with it. Any temp sensitivity or weird S.D's?
I see that it's pretty close to R-19 on the burn chart (which I use quite a bit, but can't find anymore). I primarily reload 243WIN, 25-06, 270WIN and 300WSM as well as a few other random mid-sized rifle cartridges when I have the time.

What chart are you reading?

You should put it between Viht N540 and Win 760 (aka H414) according to the "color" burn rate chart. That is quite a bit faster than RL-19. Use W760/H414 start load data minus 10% and do workups. I use data from the Alliant website for it for start loads.

Get the burn rate chart here:

I'm hanging on to mine for 131 Heavy Hammer workups on 7mm RM.

It has copper fouling inhibitors and is very temp stable. Meters well too.

2000-MR is my go-to 5.56 powder but for now I've run out. It is nearly identical to CFE 223.

I wish they made a 6000-MR.

Right off the Hornady reloading manual. That's a pretty crazy difference lol

I actually like your placement better. I've always come in really close to IMR 4831 with 4000MR. To me that means your chart is more accurate.
Looking at the Alliant chart, they put it there too. It's their mix, they should know.

I use it in my 280 Rem with 150gr ABLR.
Haven't run it over a chrono yet, but does good accuracy wise.
Also playing with it in straight 284 Win.
No load data, and Quickload xoesn't list it, so like being in wildcat territory.

The more I've been trying to dig info up on other forums, the more I've been seeing references to the R19 burn rate. Either way, would just have to start low and try not to blow my face off 🙃... like stated above, almost wildcat territory with the lack of info on this powder. Probably why I was able to find some.

Never even heard of it. Been so many come and go in my time I don't even make an effort to keep up any more.

I have been trying to develop loads for my 7mm-08 using PP4000mr using 145gr Speer bullets I used Win case and WLRM primers. primers. I got 2888 FPS and SD of 9.6 for 5 shots out of my Tikka Superlite. I have several more loaded we will see how they do. Also have several loads using Superformance with 140gr and 145gr bullets. Also have some 160gr partitions loaded with RL26.

Shot off a few rounds yesterday, from my Tikka Superlite with 22.4" barrel. RL26 using 160gr Nosler partitions 215M primers

and Win cases 2.760 OAL gave 2760FPS. For some reason accuracy was not to good. I,ll add another .5gr and see what happens.

I loaded Superformance with 140gr Ballistic tips 215M primer and Win cases at 2.760 OAL. I only got 2740 FPS but it was best

group of the day. 3 of 5 shot touching and other 2 one bullet width a way from the other 3. I,m going to do a complete ladder test

on that powder, also one on PP4000mr. Have a great day. My Western Powder Burn Rate Chart V3.4 say PP4000MR has been changed to between RL22 and RL23.
