Can corroborate this. three one-lane sections in that stretch and Eastbound was stop and go for 5 miles before the 287 cutoff in Laramie on Sunday.

There was an accident on Sunday that backed up traffic for miles going West bound.

As an amendment to my suggested route, there are some nice eateries and ice cream stops in Cooke City and Silvergate that provide a refreshing respite from travel and allow you to rest your eyes before entering YNP and the Lamar Valley.

I stopped in to check out Theo Roosevelt NP in Medora, ND today. What a zoo!! I turned around and left. Ugh!

Maybe this fall I'll take the time to drop down from Hwy 2. Medora is an overcrowded cowboy Disneyland. TR would shit himself.
