I'm in the middle of researching my September trip to Alberta and found a lot of info on the net which is great but I find recommendations from like minded people so much better :) I looking for areas to view wildlife and hike in the Jasper / Banff areas. If any anyone has visited south western Alberta I would be keen to hear from you.

I plan to be in the Hinton area and from there I hope to spend 2 - 3 days checking out the scenery and wildlife. Planning to do day hikes and would like to see goats and sheep. Am currently thinking the White Goat or Maligne Lake area. Want to avoid the crowds too. Thanks :)

I wouldn't consider Hinton to be in SW Alberta as I live here and its more Central to North central west. Big bush country for sure, but very beautiful with less crowds. What's your plan, fishing, hiking and hunting? do you want to see sheep and goats in areas you can hunt or does it matter? big difference . let me know.

Hi Alex, my plan is to hunt bear and moose, then do some sightseeing. The hunting plans are all in place but now looking for some hiking areas. I won't be hunting sheep or goats unfortunately!
