Picked up a tag in Alaska unit 1B. Anyone ever hunted spring black bear there? Been talking to Game and Fish guys trying to get all my details straightened out. I appreciate hearing fellow hunters experiences in this unit.

What about the other areas of Unit 1 in SE Alaska? Has anyone had any experience in this area?

Haven't hunted in 1 but have hunted in Unit 2 three times my advise is make sure you have access to a decent boat and hunt the coves late evening crusing the shoreline watching for bear feeding while the tide is down either rising or falling but near low tide is the best I think. Also have the best rain gear you can get your hands on.
