2nd bear

Appreciate the replies. He rendered into to 10 jars of oil and I have the hide fleshed and frozen. Skull is cleaned and in the peroxide. Already had a plate of Carne Guisada. I am anxious to get back out for elk.

He is my 2nd bear for Idaho where we are allotted 2 bears per year. Kinda sad I watched a cinnamon bear the next morning on the pack out.

I think he is bear harvest number 14 for me. I love every single one!
 
When I compare spring bear hides to fall bear hides I can’t really tell a difference in fur quality. If you plan to flesh the bears yourself, you will definitely tell a difference in the amount of fat you are fleshing off.

In the spring the bears will have much less fat. I consider this to be a disadvantage because I love harvesting the grease. Also a berry fed bears will taste much better in the fall.
