Loading the .270 with IMR 4350 and the .270 WSM with H4831SC. The .270 WSM is grouping nicely at 100 yards with 64 grains and leaving the muzzle at around 3117 FPS. The .270 is grouping nicely at 54.4 grains running 3052 at the muzzle.

Pretty happy with speed but wonder what another powder might do. Any experience with another powder and load for the .270 or .270 WSM?

Sierra load book. Vihta. Load book starts at 53,54 for 130gr
Cup and core bullets.
Lr primers would be fine. Barnes bullets like a big jump
( usually) hope this helps.

So this leads to another question. If using a mono bullet can the "recipe" for a cup and core be used? If so, do you go up in bullet weight (130 grain copper </= 140-160 grain cup and core) and use that recipe?

Yes, kind of, sort of. You can use a like-weighted cup and core recipe for a mono but start at the published starting load. Work up slowly. You will hit pressure earlier with most monos (the Hammers being a notable exception) due to higher bearing surface.
