2026 Garden

I have a ton of green tomatoes. Bell pepper 1 so far. Seeing jalapeño and jalafuegos(sp?) are coming on. Had aphids show up on the peppers. Went to war on them. I think I got them stopped. Last year they got so bad I pulled all the peppers couldn't get them down. I moved the peppers out of that house and moved a ways away. Still got them.
I'm eating Mexican Sour cucumbers finally. They are different but I like them. Gherkins are producing now along with the leaf lettuce. Never did get a radish this season. Have no idea what went wrong.
Beans are starting to flower along with the potatoes. Waiting on everything else to do it's thing,

All of you! That is so unfair showing pictures 😭! I'm getting some gherkins. Armenians are just now starting to put runners out. Beans are blooming. Found one small cantaloupe growing. A ton of green tomatoes. The jalapeños are coming on. Green peppers are so so. Acorn squash are growing. I will have a lot of black berries and a few raspberries when they decide to grow and ripen.

Mid July update. Tomatoes I started are finally starting to look like something decent.
Peppers are hit and miss- the giant Marconi and garden salsa peppers look good, but the rest are stunted, so hopefully get some to turn around.
Deer jumped the gate and pounded peas for a night, so that crop will be light, but should have a really good bean, broccoli and Brussels sprouts crop.
Cucumbers look ok
And then there are the pumpkins and squash and gourds… they’ve been sprawling and climbing everywhere… hoping for a banner year. Had lots of volunteers that I transplanted so it’ll be fun to see what the mystery plants are.

And of course the weeds are unstoppable

First peach harvest from the tree we planted a couple years ago. Not bad. A little small but thats to be expected. Texture is a little bleh but the flavor is really good. Waited a little too long on these so I may make a small batch of jelly from them. Not a great picture because I picked them in a hurry before work this morning. 20260716_061420.jpg

Had my first raspberry yesterday morning. Then the robins found them. They now are on death watch! Also built some panels with chicken wire over a couple plants and found my bird netting and stretched them over the other berry plants. Have 4 tomatoes getting ready to be eaten. Got my first green beans yesterday. Found a tiny watermelon this morning.

We had been hot and dry for about a week so I watered the garden Saturday night. Was a chance of rain Sunday but not much. Well we got 9/10’s of rain Sunday so the garden is very wet now lol

Tomatoes still doing okay. I didnt support them great but some of the vines found the welded wire trellis so we should be good. Second planting of squash is growing well. Probably 3 weeks out from the first pickings there. Second watermelon is almost ready. Got a bunch of cayennes I need to dry and birds eyes that are almost ready to pickle. Sunflowers finally opened up, one of my favorites. Ignore the weeds, that bed is done until fall.20260721_075917.jpg20260721_075920.jpg
