Hey guys, thought I'd share my first bear with you all. Took this last week hunting with Boulder Creek Outfitters in the Lochsa drainage. While not quite "on your own," I figured you wouldn't mind! For my first bear, this will be a tough one to top!

Thanks guys! I plan on getting a full body mount on it (in fact I'm looking at taxidermy forms right now...don't tell my boss! haha). I don't have any stats just yet, but he's about an average bear for the area. We figure he'd square about 5.5-6" and probably weighed in the neighborhood of 200-250 lbs if we had to guess. Don't have a skull measurement yet either. His fur was extremely thick which added to how big he looked. And the pics are strategically taken to make him look a little bigger! But he's definitely a great bear and the blonde makes him all the more special.

The hunt was over bait. In that area of the state it is incredibly thick timber so there's no "spotting" and stalking (you're lucky to find a view past 60 yards anywhere). Treestand hunting is my least favorite kind of hunting but man it was a rush when he started coming in. And a day in the treestand still beats a day at work!
