Yea I misunderstood, thought he for some reason just really didn't want to pay for or burn a deer tag. Completely agree, the combo option retaining the deer tag upon not drawing elk LE would be the way to go.
This but if he does draw the LE elk tag he will have the deer tag as well. There isn’t a way to do what he’s talking about without applying for the combo.
Never made that connection, stayed in that area a couple of times.
