    Virginia Black Bear

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any experience hunting bears in southwest Virginia? I will be staying in Gate City Nov. 11th through the 14th. As far as I've been able to find, the closest public ground is the Clinch Mountain WMA which is just under an hour and a half away from...

bear in the Ouachita national forest

Bear hunting magazine podcasts by Clay Newcomb are a great source of information. But from what I've researched, look for mast crop and concentration of bear sign. Look for small breaks in thick cover.

Black Bear in Canada Spring, or Fall

    Virginia Black Bears

I went once in 2020 with a cheap "outfitter" and had zero luck. This year I'm going back down by myself. I will be stationed in Scott county with some friends. They have 30 acres that I can hunt, but I just don't know if that's enough area to have a likelyhood of seeing bears. Any advice? I know...
