    Lead Fouling from cast bullets.

Ask him to sell you his cast bullets without the lube. Then powder coat them yourself. It's very easy to do, not expensive, but you won't get any leading using them. After coating, get a LEE push through sizing setup of the right diameter (usually 1 to 2 thousandths bigger than groove diameter)...

    Remington Actions

This thread has been played out some time ago. I wish I could stop the email notifications every time someone posts. I have unchecked every box regarding notifications, but they still come through. I have used the "contact us" twice to no change.

    Remington Actions

Since this thread has had a lot of "talk" about whether to work on a Remington or have it trued/modified/you name it, I just saw a post made on another forum that I think covers this quite well. I know the writer of the post very well, a long time benchrest shooter and a quite good gunsmith in...

    Remington Actions

Lively discussion. Remington's have their popularity for a reason. It changed the face of benchrest. Walker did a lot of testing that still stands today as the proven design. Only a 1911 and an AR has the aftermarket industry equal to a Remington. But once into mass production, things happen...

Accuracy is accuracy. The level of accuracy, and just as important consistency, is a personal value.

Somebody sure must like the custom Rem clones cause they sell a bunch of them.

    Remington Actions

My point was, at some point you bought a Remington for the action, whether a complete rifle or action only. Then, to pay a smith to accuracize it, you will have the same or more money invested it buying a custom Remington clone. Now the definition of accurasizing varies all over the map. Some...

    Metalworking Hunttalkers!

I had not heard of those but I will certainly give them a try. Thanks!

    Remington Actions

Truing a Remington action is a double edge sword. On one side, a Remington can be made to shoot just about as well as a custom action. There are hundreds of aftermarket items made for them. But it takes time for a smith to do all the work, and time is money. The other side is, once you pay to...

    Metalworking Hunttalkers!

Some mighty fine welding here. I'm a self taught stick welder. I have an old Marquet A/C welder, it get's me by on the repairs I need to do. If I spend time welding a lot, I get better. But I could go for 6 months and never strike an arc. I bought a 135 120V MIG, I struggle with it, flux core...

    High-End Rifle Scope Discussion

Most of my shooting is in benchrest, so high power scopes are the norm for me. However, a friend was asking for a quality scope for a varmint rifle that will see 98% bench shooting, and maybe a crow of groundhog now and then. So to me, a scope should have some qualities like: first and foremost...

REDUCING RINGS 30mm to 1 Inch!

I have made my own from aluminum bar stock. Quite simple to do on a lathe. The feel when tightening the rings is very positive with the inserts. There is some give in the ears where the ring screws are, and the inserts solidify the whole assembly.
