Small/mid-size trucks, best all around
It's not my preference either, but of the mid-size trucks that's what I would go with. The Ranger has an aluminum bed, Colorado is suspect gm build quality, gladiator has reliability issues. I also want to be able to unload a vehicle at any point if I need to and the Tacoma will give you back...- Cazador7

2022 Toyota Tundra
Toyota should have kept the Tundra like the one you have now. The marketing push is that with the twin turbo v6 like Ford that you will get better fuel economy. It just isnt the case, I'll take a reliable v8 all day every day.- Cazador7

Vehicle purchase ( possible eco diesel)
Is the goal just to get better gas mileage to save money in the end? When you factor in the second vehicle purchase with cost of purchase, insurance, registration, maintenance, you never come out ahead buying a second vehicle to save on gas. 2022 Toyota Tundra
I've been a member on a new model Tundra facebook group for a while. Everyone that owns one is getting lousy fuel economy. Small/mid-size trucks, best all around
Of whats out there, if I were in your shoes I would go with a 2022-23 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 SR trim. MSRP is just under $35k. Its going to have the best resale value of any of the trucks out there and they are at the end of their build cycle so most kinks are pretty much worked out.- Cazador7

Small 4x4 truck with best fuel economy?
The math on these types of things never works out to being a better option by buying a second vehicle to save on gas or keep mileage of another vehicle.
