    Poverty precision

Remington 788 223 24" Barrel. Stock looked like a 2x4. Pulled it out of the stock refinished it and reblued the metal. Can't do anything with the trigger. Bought a new magazine as the old one was failing to feed. Put a 4x12 Leupold on it everything shoots under 3/4". Put a rail on it and a...

    Light cheap accurate rifle

Ruger American Predator 308 18" barrel. It isn't threaded but weighs 7.5lbs with a Leupold 2-10x42scope and loaded. It has a heavy tapered barrel which is nice as light barrels like to wander for me. $450 on grab a gun.

I saw your post on Colorado elk hunting. If you have done the research and are in good shape just go do it. You are young enough to make mistakes. You can't learn anything from sitting at home. I will however tell you don't think that backpacking/Cam Hanes 90% of elk are taken right from...

    Backpacking tents/sleep systems... thoughts?

Have you looked at the Kifaru Sawtooth with a floor/liner or pack your own. It would be large enough for both of you, your father and your gear and if you were so inclined could also run a stove. But again that's extra weight. You would also have a little more head room then normal. While I...

But a friend just bought a colorado cyclinder stove and I would highly recommend it after seeing...

    New Guy from Eastern Oregon

New to this forum. I'm from Eastern Oregon and most of my hunting experience is from here other than a couple of hunts in 1990s in Idaho and Wyoming. I hunt elk and deer with archery and rifle equipment. Antelope are hard to draw tags in this state but have killed one with a muzzleloader here...
