Some good information to work with. If I can find some 165 and 180 grain, “ammo around here is almost impossible to find” I’ll try them through my gun and see how the preform. Thanks guys!
I have a good amount of 150 grain hunting rounds for my 30-06, primary shower point and soft point. It’s my go to round for deer hunting that’s never let me down but is it good enough to take on elk or should I try a heavier bullet? Could really use some input from some of the elk hunters here...
Any advice on a Colorado rifle elk hunt in unit 3? A friend suggested I look for some private land backed up to BLM or public land for a 2nd or 3rd week hunt. It sits about 6000 feet. Anyone have any past experience in this unit they would mind to share?
Thanks in advance

I’m new here, this being my first attempt at a post. My wife and I are looking at NM for a 2021 elk hunt if we get lucky in the draw, and never being farther west than the mighty Mississippi I’m hoping to get some help from some guys here that knows what they are doing. We’ve hunted elk here in...
Awesome read! Congrats to you and the wife. My wife got drew for an archery tag in 2019. We spent 12 days on two different trips chasing elk. We had a great time but let me tell you we were both so tired and sore after each trip! We saw 4 bulls, one of which we had a bugle contest with, but...
I have done some research on 52 and what I’ve found says it is a rugged but good unit to see elk. If and when we ever get drawn we will be hunting with a rifle and hope to find a few herds we can get close enough to get a shot.
