Big game tag recommendations
Quite embarrassing to see the unit I hunted last year get a 50% increase in tags. I hunted 4th season and saw about 30-40 does all 4th season in a lower deer density unit. Not a single buck rutting any of these does, more than 20 of the does I saw were 3+ miles away from roads. I only saw one... -

How many miles?
Yes, have you heard of the High Uintas? Some good elk areas can be 20 miles away from the trailhead, of course in that situation you would use horses to pack the meat out. -

2A/2B would not be worth it at that many points. I'd suggest looking at 5B or 6A. -

Work smarter not harder! There is no reason people need to be hiking 8+ miles per day unless they are hiking to a specific area. If you do your research and figure areas that will likely hold elk it will be significantly less mileage. An average day for me during archery season is 5 miles per... -

Tell Me About Your Snowshoes
If you are any where near 230lbs+ I'd highly suggest giving a look at the Atlas Montane 35. They are extremely durable and have great flotation. My weight with a pack on is 310lbs+ and they handle it just fine, I've even stepped on branches and fallen tree and they took zero damage.- Aerosith

Rifle Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice for 2023

Idaho Palisades 2024 elk hunt
Probably one of the worst zones in the state when it comes to elk population and density... all i gotta say is good luck. -
ID refuses to send wolves to CO, joining WY and MT.
Not to mention the vast majority of elk taken in Colorado each year are bull elk. The wolves will indiscriminately kill elk of either sex, this will certainly have a significant impact on the cow elk populations. Which will clearly lead to lower elk populations overall.
