I'm really enjoying the new season! It's shaping up to be a great one. I gotta say though, I'm sorry to see Randy stuck in a Raptor. I'm gonna miss that Titan and I'm not even a Nissan fan. Even if Ford offered one for free, I'd rather buy my own truck than drive a Ford again. :p
I was 12 years old, living near Vancouver BC, Canada. My dad shook me awake and said "A plane just hit the World Trade Center." We didn't have cable tv so were listening to the radio when the second plane hit. I still remember the anchor saying "a second plane! oh my god oh my god oh my god". My...
Being new to hunting, I don't have any hunt rituals. I have fished for 25+ years though.
- I will never kill the first fish of the season, be it open water or ice season.
- Every fish caught and released is quietly thanked for being sporting enough to test my skill in some way.
- When...
Agreed, they're very underrated. I find TFO to offer very competitive value for the dollar when compared to a brand like Sage (which I like too) where I feel you pay a premium for the name. I have 3wt and 8wt Lefty Kreh Signature rods and a 5wt Axiom.
This was a great episode. Keep the shop stories coming. :D
My wife was napping on the couch while I watched this episode and I woke her up with my laughter. "Here lies Randy Newberg, victim of 5 alarm chili. Shit himself to death". Classic.
Here's a couple spots I've located and plan to check out. I'm going to get out and walk these in a few weeks when I get back home from a training course. Anybody have any intial impressions from sat imagery? Am I on the right track for deer habitat?
First up is a spot that has private land...
I've looked through both in the last year as I'm thinking about new binos too. I prefer Zeiss glass. My dad likes his Vortex Razors which he uses for birdwatching. That said, he's had them warrantied for fogging up. I personally don't have good experience with Vortex optics in general.
I'm an EMR so I carry stuff with me all the time.
In my truck is a trauma kit:
- Tourniquet
- CPR mask with 1 way valve
- Oral airways
- Nasophayngal airway
- Israeli bandages
- Abdominal pads
- Shears
In my pack is a IFAK:
- Tourniquet
- Israeli bandage
- 2 triangular bandages with...
I really enjoyed this episode and would love to see more like it. One of the things I love about Randy and his show is that it's real. Mistakes are made, screw ups happen, plans go awry, shots are missed and sometimes they go home empty handed. Sounds like an average backcountry trip for me!
I'm blessed to have a full home gym in my basement; treadmill, squat rack with pull up bar, barbell, plates, flat bench, incline bench, kettle bells, slam ball and punching bag. Right now I'm doing a combination of running, barbell training and pushups. My pushup goal is to be able to do 100 in...
Great, thanks for the info. I do have a couple places in mind that meet that description. I should also say that whitetail will be my primary quarry.
How far does vehicle traffic usually push deer back into the bush? Road hunting is modus operandi around here, so I'm certain that come fall the...
As a newbie hunter, I'm beginning my scouting for this season now. I'm doing my best to avoid the farm fields and private land the majority of the people in my region of northern Alberta tend to hunt. I want to get off the beaten path and put some miles on my boots. Right now, I'm using a...
Geez, what a mess. Good on you for packing it out. People who leave trash out in public places like that are an embarassment to sportsmen. I always bring a garbage bag with me while fishing and more often than not it's full when I'm hiking out. Same when I shoot on public land. Lots of junk in...
