In his defense, the brake needed to be opened by the smith and I don't think he opened it enough. I put a caliper on it and it is .317" so only .01 over bore. Everything I have read it .025-.030" is where it should be. The threads and brake appear to look straight and even.
Hopefully I can...
I shot the gun today without the brake and it produced a 1.6" group using the same ammo that made a 13.5" group the day before. I will be sending the brake to be opened up this week.
Well, I believe I'm on the right track. I cleaned it really well and took it out one more time. It was bad!! 13.5" group with 180 Btips at 100 yards. I got home and put the bore scope down it. As I was removing it, I caught a little copper in the muzzle brake. I looked closer and found a...
I acquired a Sako 300WBY from my late FIL. I have it in a McMillan stock and had a brake put on it because it was a monster to fire. Before the brake, I never shot a decent group because it was hard to shoot off the bench. Now that it has a brake, it is very easy to shoot but I can't get it...
I have tried many things. New scope, rings, bedded the stock, pressure point on the end, free floated, new Trigger Tech Trigger and 150-165-180gr bullets and 4 different powders.
I have a Remington 700 Mountain rifle that was my dad bought. I have tried so many combos of powder and bullets but I can't get it to shoot better than 1.25-1.5" groups. I would like to put a new 30-06 barrel on it. I would also like to keep it similar to the original contour and length...
My hope is to have my 338-06 back soon after Christmas. I have never used the TTSX bullet and am wondering what one you recommend. The 210gr at 2700fps or the 185gr at 2900. The goal will be to deer and maybe elk and moose with the rifle. 400 yards would be the max distance on elk and moose and...
I'm looking reboring at 30-06 to 338-06. I'm in the process of bullet research for deer hunting. One of the goals is to use a new bullet so that takes off the partition, accubond, balistic tip, eldx, and hot cor off the table. I'm thinking something in the 200-225gr range. What are thoughts...
Thanks. Sounds like a good bullet for what I want to do. I'll be hunting from tree stands where shots will be close. I have enough rifles that all shoot jacketed bullets. I want to try something new with the 45-70.
I'm very close to getting a call from the local sports shop that a Henry case hardened 45-70 is in. I've wanted one for years and I'm really close to making the investment. My goal is to deer hunt here in WI with it and maybe use it for bears when I draw a tag.
I will load my own ammo and...
Contact Browning and they will send a new one. It is caused when the oils or other chemicals (bug spray from turkey hunting) react to the stock. I took the old one and used paint stripper to clean it up and then repainted it.
I shot my dads 25-06 Tikka yesterday and had a few misfires that I had to shoot again to fire. After looking at the fired rounds most just have a small dent in the primer. This lot of primers has never had a issue in other rounds/guns. I'm guessing I need to break the bolt down and clean it...
