CO OTC 3rd rifle season. Went to the wire as I got this guy in the last 15 min of shooting light on the last day of the season! First elk on first elk hunt. Can’t wait for next year!
Thanks for that info. My buddies and I are just weighing out the cost vs opportunity. Being that this is an elk hunt, we won't be actively hunting for bear. I guess worst case we can chalk it up as another donation to a state's fish and wildlife department!
Are bears still out and about in the beginning of November (specifically southwest part of the state). Hunting 3rd rifle elk and was curious if it’s worth adding the tag on. Thanks in advance
Rookie western hunter here, and to make things even more difficult, I’m a late bloomer (42). Have my first elk hunt in 3rd rifle Colorado this year. Last year I only hunted my home state but bought a point in Wyoming for elk and deer for my son and myself. I also am planning on Arizona OTC...
Where did you see the Army starting to use 6.5 PRC? SOCOM has been using the 6.5 creed for a while, but I was not aware of anyone even testing the 6.5 PRC. I do know that 300 PRC has been in testing for quite a while and I believe they are now field testing it with the new weapon system...
Thanks for the input. All it really does is lessens the sting of paying for the license before the draw without getting something for it (other than a kind donation...).
Arizona is intriguing with its OTC archery deer tags. Am I correct in interpreting that I could OTC archery deer hunt in January and buy my license then, which would allow me to put in for the draw for fall of the same year? Otherwise I would have to buy a license at the time of the draw...
This was going to be my first year in the application game. Had to change plans due to the already significant economic impact on my business. Now I’m looking at OTC only to be conservative. COVID-19 is not my primary concern at this point.
Lucked into a mil buddy that has a connection for a large piece of private property. Going to go OTC. If that doesn't pan out, then it will be OTC DIY public land. Either way, I'm getting up there!
Glad to join. Looking to build knowledge of western big game hunting. Grew up with upland bird/game and just starting with larger game. Mil sniper, so long range shooting is a passion. First elk hunt planned for fall/winter so clock is ticking.
