Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up finding an upright Kenmore for $100 for sale used. It's in great shape, and will cover my needs for now. Your comments have me considering an upright far more than I had been, as I was under the impression they carry more risk vs the work associated with chest which I consider marginal.
