I'm not sure, but they didn't use "centerfire" in the proposed bill. The legislator's have 650 days between sessions to have someone proof read their proposed bills.
Most of the elk we saw were in E4, along the park west side boundary (between the cell tower on the south up to the petrified forest to the north) People always joked & said "just sit by the holes in the park fence", well, they weren't kidding. There are maintained "holes" in the fence & the elk...
I don't know how the bulls did it, but we saw a couple 6x6's in the herd we shot our cow's out of. The coordinates is where we got our cows. This was in mid-October, we were there mid-week and didn't run into any other hunters in that area.
The week of Labor Day we hunted up on Magpie Road (a lot of people), we glassed up (2) bulls here 47.202584,-103.360305. It was hard to get away from people. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them.
Sure can. Do you have an email address or cell number? It's a lot easier to send info. Also, How familiar are you with that area (so I know if I can use ranch/road names).
Congratulations! Are you chasing bulls or cows?
My wife & I each had out once in a lifetime tags last year (2020) for cow elk in E3 (and E4 after the 3 day waiting period). We shot our elk in E4 in mid-October at the same time.
If you use Basemap, I can send you a lot of good info.
PM me...
Well, four hours before Montana closed bear & turkey to non-residents, my wife & I went received an email from ND Game & Fish stating we went 3 out or 4 for once in a lifetime North Dakota tags!!! My wife drew a cow moose & cow elk & I drew a cow elk. I guess not being able to hunt Montana bear...
Thank for the advice so far. If my wife decides not to go, the whole "campground" idea will change to me tenting a lot closer to a hunting area. But, if she goes, June sounds a lot better than May to her (likes warmer weather way more than cold).
As far as the region I was looking at, I meant...
My wife & I are planning are first trip to the mountains, our first hunting trip in Montana & our first bear hunt, all combined into the same trip around May/June 2020.
I have a few basic questions (at this time, I'm sure there will be many more)
I have no reason for picking the hunting area...
